Our rural outreach really consists of two programmes. We place book boxes in 27 rural primary schools in Gwanda district, about half the schools. These contain up to 300 books and remain in the school for the duration of a school term. At the beginning of each term a teacher comes from each school to assist the library staff to select books that they think will be useful for their readers. They also bring requests from community members. The books are then available for use by pupils, teachers and community members.
